The Tattooist of Auschwitz :: Heather Morris

THE TATTOOIST OF AUSCHWITZ
HEATHER MORRIS

This book is based on a true story of a man named Lale and his story of love and survival in a concentration camp.

Could you imagine volunteering to go work for the Germans thinking this will help save your family, but then finding out you are actually a prisoner in a concentration camp and forced to work or be killed? While imprisoned, your job is to give the all the new prisoners a tattoo of a number. They all become nameless once the number is finished be tattooed into their skin. Put in this line of work causes other prisoners consider you a trader you have to be careful around them for their jealousy may get the best of them, as well as always being careful around the inhuman guards. In a world of hate, jealousy, and heartless living, Lale finds his one true love. This book is sorrowful and heart-wrenching, but somehow still gives a glimmer of hope for this world.

This book I read in one weekend. (A weekend that I didn't have a lot of time to even read.) That should tell you how good it is! Absolutely mind blowing of the terrific, but true events that happened in these camps, and even more amazing being able to read it from one individuals perspective.

The last month and a half has been a bit rough for my family, with two deaths and a very scary and serious hospitalization, I didn't have quite as much time one my hands to read. You would thing that sitting in in a hospital for a week would give you EXTRA time to read, but when your loved one is in pain and needs help with things, what seems to be every twenty minutes, reading becomes HARD .  Educated is the first memoir that I have ever read. I usually tend to read fictional books. Saying that, this book was amazing. A girl with no formal education( if you can even count her informal information), decides she is going to attempt to get into college. She does this by going to a book store and buying textbooks to teach her in subjects, such as Algebra. Then she reads these textbooks and teaches herself with s...
